Where Can I Get My Dog Groomed in Victoria BC?
By Anna Hakim & Perry Fanthorpe, Happy Homes Team at eXp Realty
Victoria has a solid selection of dog grooming salons spread across the city, from full-service shops in Oak Bay and Burnside to quieter, one-on-one studios in Saanich. Most offer standard baths, breed-specific haircuts, nail trims, and de-shedding treatments. Booking two to four weeks ahead is the norm, especially for larger breeds.
We take Ziggy, our 6-year-old Rottweiler, to the groomer every 8 to 10 weeks. Sahara, our senior Lab mix, gets a gentler touch every few months. Here are the salons we know and trust, and the details you need to find the right fit for your dog.
Which groomers are open right now in Victoria?
These are established local businesses with physical storefronts:
The Mucky Mutt Pet Salon
Two locations: 491 Burnside Road East and 2250 Oak Bay Avenue. This is one of the most popular grooming operations in Victoria. They offer full-service grooming, a self-service U-bath option (you wash your own dog in their tub, they handle the rest), and walk-in nail trimming. The Burnside location is convenient if you live in Saanich, View Royal, or the West Shore. The Oak Bay location serves the east side.
Fernwood Grooming
1413 Camosun Crescent, near the Fernwood neighbourhood. A smaller shop known for a calm, patient approach. They have equipment specifically for senior dogs and dogs with limited mobility, which matters if your dog is older or has joint issues. Sahara has been groomed here, and the team handled her gently and without rushing.
The Calm Dog Studio
3691 Saanich Road. This studio specializes in one-on-one sessions and is known for working with anxious or reactive dogs. If your dog panics in busy salons with multiple dogs barking, this is worth the call. They keep the environment quiet and handle one dog at a time.
Dog World Beauty & Health Spa
3584 Quadra Street. A long-running local business that offers spa-style grooming, including conditioning treatments and specialized coat care. If your dog has matting issues or a double coat that needs professional attention (think Husky, Shepherd, or Newfoundland), they have the tools and experience.
Bark, Bath & Beyond Pet Boutique
2041 Oak Bay Avenue. Part retail, part grooming. You can pick up treats, leashes, and specialty food while your dog is in the chair. Their grooming is solid for routine maintenance: bath, brush-out, nail trim, and breed-appropriate cuts.
Pawsitive Pet Grooming
116-2244 Sooke Road, in the Colwood/Langford area. This is a good option if you live on the West Shore and would rather not drive into central Victoria. Professional grooming with a focus on straightforward, reliable cuts.
How much does dog grooming cost in Victoria?
Expect to pay roughly $60 to $90 for a bath and nail trim on a small to medium dog. Full grooms on larger dogs (50 lbs and up) typically run $100 to $180 depending on coat condition and breed-specific requirements. Rottweilers like Ziggy fall in the upper range because of size and the time required for a thorough de-shed and nail grind.
Self-service U-baths are usually $15 to $25 if you want to handle the bath yourself in a proper tub without wrecking your bathroom. Walk-in nail trims are often $15 to $25 and some shops do not require an appointment.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is standard for most salons. The Calm Dog Studio and Fernwood Grooming tend to book further out because of their smaller capacity. Summer is the busiest season (think post-winter de-shedding and pre-summer trims), so call early if you want a specific date.
A tip: set up a recurring appointment every 8 weeks rather than booking one at a time. Most salons accommodate this, and it keeps your dog on a consistent schedule without the scramble.
What if my dog has specific needs?
For anxious dogs, The Calm Dog Studio is your best option. For senior dogs with arthritis or mobility limitations, Fernwood Grooming has the right equipment. For double-coated breeds that need serious de-shedding, Dog World Beauty & Health Spa has the tools. For pure convenience with two locations, The Mucky Mutt covers most of the city.
If your dog has skin conditions or allergies, mention it when you book. Most groomers will use hypoallergenic shampoo at no extra charge, but they need to know in advance. Your vet can recommend specific medicated shampoos if needed, and most salons will use what you bring.
Why grooming proximity matters when choosing a home
This is something we talk about with clients who are dog owners: having a groomer within a 15-minute drive of your home makes maintenance dramatically easier. If you are in Oak Bay, you have Mucky Mutt and Bark, Bath & Beyond nearby. If you are in Fernwood or Victoria West, Fernwood Grooming is a short walk or drive. If you are on the West Shore, Pawsitive saves you the highway trip.
When we help dog owners find homes, we look at the full practical map: how close is the nearest groomer, the nearest emergency vet, the nearest off-leash park, and the nearest trail. These things add up to daily quality of life, and they vary a lot between neighbourhoods.
